Teacher Resources
Here's some helpful things if you ever need ideas for lessons!
Edpuzzle
Do you ever occasionally find yourself running a couple of minutes ahead with one class, but you don't want to get too far ahead of the other classes? Edpuzzle solves that problem by providing videos on 1000's of different topics that can save any social studies teacher from having kids sitting around doing nothing. Many come pre-loaded with questions that other educators have created to provide their colleagues with some inspiration. You can also create your own by uploading a video (or choosing one off of YouTube) and writing down the different questions and topics you might want to discuss during the video. Whether it's the basis of your lesson, or something to throw on for the last couple minutes of class, Edpuzzle always has you covered!
Nearpod
Nearpod is for teachers that love doing slideshow presentations, but want a little more student engagement. Nearpod allows you to share the presentation with your class so that they can follow along on each of their computers. It also allows you to have slides where the students participate, whether that is through answering a poll question, contributing to a class discussion chart, or doing a quiz. Nearpod provides dozens of lessons on a variety of topics that are easily editable, giving you the option to remove excess information, or adding additional supports for your students.
Kahoot
This is every students' favorite online activity. Hands down. Kahoot allows you to create quizzes that all the students participate in at the same time. Depending on your classroom management style, Kahoots can be very fun, or very stressful. I have definitely stopped in the middle of the Kahoot due to disruption in the classroom. But it also gives you a gauge of your own classroom management and how much you have improved when you don't have to threaten to stop it anymore! Kahoots can also be used to poll a classroom, which could lead to some very interesting discussions that could be used for four corners.
